Thanks, Dianna! No new lens here...just the same old 18-55 mm that came with my Nikon D40. I've been learning about light and metering and so the shot on my street was metered for the bright sunlight which really accentuated the deep, dark shadows of the tree. Check out Brian Peterson's book "Understanding Exposure". I love it. I've been meaning to blog about it.
Great photos! I started reading some photography blogs last night hoping to learn more, so far it feels like learning Chinese to me ;) I've decided that I'm no where near qualified to call my stuff "photography" yet and will from here on out just refer to it as "piture takin'" ;)
