The Lake House

Inspired by the long evening shadows and forgiving dusk light, I grabbed the camera and headed out the door tonight. Through all the uncertainty of the last 5 months, the backyard of the lakehouse where we are staying has been a place of solace for me. After crossing the finish line of evening activities including dinner, bathtime, nursing, and bedtime, I will often go to the one place I know of right now that is both beautiful and peaceful, especially in the evening light. I hope you can catch a little bit of the beauty in this photo series.

Awesome photos, my friend. Are you manually setting them or using the preset stuff? I'm still getting used to the manuals on mine, and usually just default to the auto. But I'd love to know how you do it!

Thanks, Joc. I am learning my manual settings right now too. Last night the light was still strong enough so I just set it on auto. I did have to set the camera down and put it on a timer to stabilize some of the shots. Other than that, it was just a point and shoot kind of evening. Enjoyable all around!

lovely! you are blessed to be living there right now. It's good to see what you're surroundings are like. And Keller!! Aw, I miss that wild pup. I really really like the one with your silhouette as well. The lighting in the rocking chair picture is beautiful. You should put these up on flickr! Lovely work. I'm glad that you have found a way to relax and find peace.

Truly, you are gifted. I am tutoring Wes through Art Appreciation right now (one of my passions), and seeing your photography truly blesses my soul with the beauty you capture. I only wish you were closer so I could witness your gift in action! I posted some new pictures (taken by my non-gifted self) of the kiddos today. You won't believe how big they are getting!
