Catching up with you

I imagine I am sitting with each of you over a cup of tea catching you up with everything that has been going on the last few weeks. It is going to be a short recap because I still have a lot to do in the next few hours before we head off for the junior high ski trip.

The Last few weeks have been such a humbling time for me...God has been taking me back to the basics of what it means to be a person who is kind and humble. Ordinarily simple enough concepts...sort of. But for me these last two weeks, I have been anything but kind and humble, especially to Matt. But in God's goodness he is teaching me these truths fresh and once again, as if I had never learned them before.

Last weekend Jocelyn and Matthew stopped by for a few days in their travels on the west coast. It was fantastic, and we had a great time together. In preparation for their arrival, I finished up a few tasks around the house, one in particular worth noting. I finally came up with an idea for above my bed. I had been wanting to do an art project, nothing too elaborate but just simple and original. I snapped a few shots of the results, and I am pretty happy with it for now.

I have been really indulging my creativity lately, I can't believe how natural and fulfilling it is for me to do things like take pictures and paint and create my new photography website. I am really feeling so content with these new pursuits. Here are a few shots I took this morning. The picture of the blossoms at the top are from a tree outside of my office. I passed by the window the other day and I noticed, to my great joy, spring peaking through the bare branches! Enjoy these shots, and pray for this weekend that we will be a blessing to the kids and that we leaders will be blessed by being with them.

Wow Lina, way to go on the beautiful paintings for above your bed. You are coming alive girl! Not that you weren't before...ha, ha :0) It's just so cool to see the creativity pouring out of you. I never knew you were so gifted! Isn't it cool to be awaken again to the creative daughters Christ made us as, able to enjoy and create beauty?! You're running with that...it inspires me to start doing the same. My latest cool artwork is....little Brighton (he,he ;0). He turned out okay.

Alina,
I didn't know you had it in you! What an inspiration to see how God's been developing the artist in you! I really like the paintings above your bed. They are so original and cool looking! I'm glad you and Matt enjoyed your company with the Bryants. I'll be praying for your ski trip this weekend. Praise God for another refreshing time with the youth. I can't wait to hear all about it! Love you sis!

Dear Alina,

I am so proud of your talents. You know, I sometimes think when we are not at peace in one area of our lives (ex. your job not being in your field of training) God allows other things to come out (or pour out in your case)to try to put our restless hearts in a more peaceful place. That first picture of the flower outside your office is awesome. When I logged in to your websight, my first thought was "Wow, what a professional photo" Young lady, you have quite the talent. I pray your weekend will be one that fuels the fire of love for Jesus for all concerned. Love always, Mama K

You're too cool Alina! I love the paintings over your bed, and your photography is great! I miss that warmer-looking weather! We have about 16 inches of snow here! I want spring!!!

By the way, the ski retreat with our church was great. I asked to have NO commitments during the weekend, and it was great to relax and enjoy everyone!

Take care,
Mar

What beautiful work you've done! Isn't it amazing to feel creativity within yourself and know that God inspired it within you? I would love to have time to do more creative things again one day. Click on my name and come read my blogs...they are my only creations as of late. You are prayed for, my dear! Jamie
